European Researcher's Night

On September 27th, 2024, the DYNABrain team joined the European Researchers’ Night, in Baixa de Coimbra, with different activities about “The social brain” for children and adults. Activities included Brain Escape Box, visualization of brain slices with a LEGO-scope, and so much more!

The Brain Maze

On February 20th, 2024, Bárbara Canijo, together with fellow CNC researcher Tiago Reis, participated in the event “Meet the Scientists” at UC-Exploratório in Coimbra where, through games and drawings, they helped children aged 3 to 5 to explore the five senses and their emotions. 

The brain: regions and functions

On May 18th, 2023, Bárbara Canijo, together with fellow CNC researcher Carolina Lebre, led an activity at Rómulo Centro de Ciência Viva – Coimbra, to explain the different brain regions and functions to primary school children by using a memory game.

International Day for Women and Girls in Science

On May 10th, 2023, Cristina Márquez celebrated the International Day for Woman and Girls in Science with activities for children and teenagers at the Instituto Espanhol de Lisboa “Giner de los Rios”.

On the celebration of 2024 Laboratory Animal Day, Cristina Márquez was interviewed by the University of Coimbra about the importance of animal experimentation for scientific research: “Not a long time ago, we lived during a situation that has shown that, although basic research is important, animal experimentation is still of the utmost importance”. All scientific research “must be communicated to society, especially the one that involves the use of animals”, explains Cristina acknowledging the uprise of movements against animal experimentation. 

In 2023, we were celebrating 33 years of discovery and innovation at CNC-UC! Cristina Márquez was one of the 33 voices selected for an interview, where she gave her inspiring testimony.
