What would you like to know about the brain?
With NeuroCurios@ project, we aim to answer children’s questions about the brain by creating an engaging, illustrated book that responds to their curiosity. As part of this initiative, we posed this open question to a group of 10-year-olds from Marquês de Marialva Middle School in Cantanhede. In collaboration with CNC’s SciComm team members Sara Amaral and Rita Félix, DYNABrain led three interactive sessions to collect the children’s questions, which will be thoughtfully adapted and transformed into illustrations for the upcoming book.

The first session was held on March 20, 2024, as part of Brain Awareness Week, where the mysteries of the brain were introduced to the children.
The second session took place at Marquês de Marialva Middle School in Cantanhede, were the children started to ask some questions to the team “How are our brains formed? Why do we feel pain, cold or hot? Does the brain change its size when we grow up?”. It led to great discussions and was the perfect launch for the next steps!

The third session happened at UC-Biotech on June 5, 20204, where the enthusiastic kids of Marquês de Marialva Middle School kept questioning and learning (almost) everything there is to know about the brain. This session was filled with hands-on activities and exciting challenges!
